Henna
is a plant (Lawsonia Inermis) which naturally grows in most Old World
Countries such as Egypt, Morocco, North Africa, and Persia. Its leaves
are dried in the sun and then crushed into a fine powder.
Fine
henna powder is combined with lemon juice, and sugar to create a perfect
100% natural staining paste. Not all henna
paste is equal. Some use teas, artifical colorings, coffee, oils and
chemical dyes to achieve a darker color. Even simple additonal items
could be dangerous and have adverse reactions. So ask questions! It’s
your skin keep it healthy and beautiful.
Henna
body art is temporary. As your skin layers slowly exfoliate, the henna
stain will completely disappear! The henna plant has been used for centuries,
cosmetically and for homeopatic remedies. henna is safe, for use on
children and
expectant mothers!
Your
design will last from 7 to 14 days
depending on the length of time the paste remains in contact with the
skin,
the area of body that it is applied to, how much the area is exposed
to chemicals & water, and how quickly your skin exfoliates. The
darkest designs are achieved by applying them where your skin is thickest
(ie: palms of the hand and soles of the feet).

The
henna paste should be left on the skin
for as long as possible. (Typically 8- 12
hours). The longer the paste remains on
the skin, the darker the design will be.
The
henna paste will begin to dry, harden and flake off. To prolong this
process, apply a mixture of lemon juice/sugar solution with a cotton
swab to the hennaed area.
You
can apply this solution as often as
you like or whenever the paste appears
dry. This will help moisten the paste so
that it can continue staining the skin. Do
not use water to remove.
When
adequate time has elapsed remove the henna pastewith the side of a butter
knife by gently scraping the area. After removal of thepaste, you can
shower / bathe as usual. Thecolor will change from orange to a deeper
reddish-brown over the next 24 - 48 hrs.
Apply
the area with Tiger Balm or
Vaseline before bathing or swimming to
help protect your design.
